100NO 471: The secret sauce to fulfilling relationships
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Imagine if your partner loved your hobby. It doesn’t happen often in relationships, but it does stimulate the conversation about creating – and identifying – hobbies that we enjoy with our loved ones. Quality time is something that we all love – some more than others. But that doesn’t mean that every married couple wants to play golf together, or that every parent and child wants to go to the football or go shopping.
Taking the time to understand what the other person wants, and taking the time to discuss what you BOTH might like … is just a part of the secret sauce of living the 100 Not Out Lifestyle.

Jo Whitton, also knows as the founder of Quirky Cooking, joins us again to discuss a number of important topics.
Jo’s son Isaac spoke at The Wellness Summit back in 2015 and all these years later, he’s health-conscious and living independently. On this episode Jo talks about the importance of patience, the long game, and the fulfilment one gets when seeing an older child value health.
Jo’s most recent book, Simple Healing Foods, is on the agenda.
And we also discuss Wellness Renewed, an online event coming up on April 2 and 3, that features Jo, Marcus and 6 other wellness speakers, with 100% of the revenue going to flood relief victims.

100NO 469: How to stay healthy as you get older
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Monday Mar 21, 2022
Marcus is wondering how Damo continues to have high standards for his physical health as he gets older.
The majority of humanity slowly give up on their physical health standards as they get older, losing muscular strength, becoming obese (through a lowered muscle to fat ratio), and all in all, losing the spark and vitality that they once had.
As we get older, certain things become more difficult. We can’t run as fast, or bend down as easily. But that doesn’t mean they’re not important, or shouldn’t be done.
As Damo reflects on how he is healthier and stronger today than when 100 Not Out first begin, a big part of his insight is around peer group.

100NO 468: Floods, Wars & NINE Years of 100 Not Out!
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
It’s hard to believe, but we are officially nine years of age here at 100 Not Out!
And what a week it’s been! Marcus’s home town of Mullumbimby has been ravaged by the floods, a war is erupting in the northern hemisphere, and an icon of Australian society in Shane Warne died unexpectedly.
As random and disconnected as those three events seem to be, there’s some burning longevity lessons and questions in these three events.
What’s more important to you – quality or quantity of life? How much do you love where you live? And how grateful are you to be living in a country like Australia?
These are just of the chats we have on our ninth birthday of 100 Not Out!
This week’s featured image is of Marcus’ daughter Maya helping in the cleanup efforts the day after the floods cleared in Mullumbimby.

100NO 467: The Almost NINE Year Anniversary Episode
Monday Mar 07, 2022
Monday Mar 07, 2022
100 Not Out is about to turn nine years young! Next week, episode 468, marks our ninth year podcasting on the principles of longevity, and we are quite chuffed to still be here, with so much petrol in the tank with what we fill, is a very important message to share.
On this episode we share just some of what we’ve learned so far, and what we think we will see in longevity over the coming years.
And to everyone who has asked about Marcus and his safety during the floods, all is well – our family is safe and our house is unaffected. We are now doing all we can to support our local community.

100NO 466: Ageism is rife towards ourselves and others
Monday Feb 28, 2022
Monday Feb 28, 2022
A recent conversation Marcus had with a friend regarding the age and function of his phone has stimulated a conversation on how we perceive our own hardware and software and ability to function as human beings.
Are we telling ourselves “I’m too old to do X” as a result of what others have told us? Are our beliefs about getting older accurate? Do we too quickly jump to “never again” when we experience a setback?
We discuss these questions and more on the “almost” 9th birthday episode of 100 Not Out.

100NO 464: 93 years old and still dancing with Judith Ker
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Monday Feb 14, 2022
Many years ago Judith Ker was a young girl on her way to see Peter Pan with her family in Edinburgh. Little did she know that she was about to have her life’s work laid out for her. Judith was captivated by the dancers of the play and knew then and there that she too would become a dancer.
Having carved out a full international career, Judith has been teaching ballet in Tasmania for the past 50 years … and at 93 years young, she has no intention of stopping.
You can read more about Judith here, and watch her in action here.

100NO 463: Has animal protein v plant protein research lost its way?
Monday Feb 07, 2022
Monday Feb 07, 2022
Today we discuss whether the research against the consumption of animal protein has lost its way. Whilst many in the nutrition world continue to promote a diet that excludes animal protein, we discuss whether the research is not holistic enough. Whilst the fast-food industry quite rightly gets the blame for its processing practices of animal protein, what about the traditional farmer who consciously raises an animal and goes through the traditional – albeit difficult – process of bringing that protein to the plate?
These curly questions and more form the basis of today’s conversation on 100 Not Out.
